About the Providers

The physicians of Advanced Pediatrics are all board certified with privileges at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children. We remain steadfast in our commitment to the continual re-education of ourselves through conferences regionally and nationally as well as in training the next generation of pediatric providers including pediatric residents, medical students, and nurse practitioner students.   We offer a broad and diverse pediatric experience which is enhanced by our individual subspecialty interests.

Richard Schwartz, MD, FAAP

Richard SchwartzDr. Schwartz, a 1965 graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine, completed his pediatric residency at the Children's Hospital in Washington, D.C. He is a clinical professor of pediatrics at Georgetown University and George Washington University School of Medicine, a full professor of pediatrics at the Medical College of Virginia, and a clinical professor at the University of Virginia Medical College. His special interests include ear, nose and throat diseases as well as antibiotic and vaccine research. Dr. Schwartz regularly receives acknowledgements as a Washingtonian magazine "top doctor" and is included in the prestigous "Best Doctors in America" by the Consumers' Research Council of America. He and his wife Roselynne reside in Vienna and have three grown children.

 


Michael Martin, MD, FAAP

Michael MartinDr. Martin is a graduate of Cornell University and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After finishing his pediatric training at the New York University Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital, he completed a chief residency at NYU. He is the Assistant Program Director for the pediatric residency program at Inova Fairfax Children's Hospital and holds academic positions at the University of Virginia Medical School, the George Washington Univeristy Medical Center, and the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. Dr. Martin has an interest in asthma, adolescent medicine, and sports medicine. He also has received training in the cutting of tongue ties in newborns (frenulotomy), skin biopsies, and skin lesion removals. He and his wife, Dayna, have one son.

 


Jinny Yoo, MD, FAAP

Jinny YooDr. Yoo is an honor graduate of the University of Virginia School of Medicine. She was inducted into the National Medical School Honor Society Alpha Omega Alpha and received numerous academic awards during her tenure at medical school. She completed her residency at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Dr. Yoo has been with Advanced Pediatrics since 2002. Dr. Yoo speaks Korean and some French and enjoys tennis and golf. She and her husband Fredrik have a two sons and reside in McLean.

 

 

 


Andrea Weaver, MD, FAAP

Andrea WeaverDr. Weaver graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut with a B.A. in History. Her medical degree is from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. Dr. Weaver completed her pediatric residency at the Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children. Her special interests are in child safety and injury prevention. She and her husband, Richard, have one daughter.

 

 

 

 


Carla Minosh, NP

Carla MinoshMs. Minosh is an honor graduate from George Mason University and a graduate of the Family Nurse Practitioner program operated in conjunction with the George Washington University School of Medicine. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing and completed her pediatric training at Advanced Pediatrics. She has many years of experience as a Cardiovascular ICU Nurse.   She offers hypnotherapy for many common pediatric conditions including bedwetting, anxiety, and tic disorders.

 

 

 


Jennifer Jenks, NP

Jennifer JenksMs. Jenks attended Indiana University, receiving her undergraduate degree in Nursing as well as her Masters of Science, specializing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.  She has seen a vast array of patients and treated a wide variety of pediatric ailments having worked at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis and Walter Reed Army Medical Center.  Ms. Jenks also previously worked in a private practice specializing in pediatric gastroenterology.  Ms. Jenks has obtained several commendations from Riley Hospital for excellence in patient care.  She and her husband reside inAlexandria.
